This is an interesting study / sketch made by Frank Brangwyn after objects on display in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
He has made the sketch (possibly a sheet from a larger sketchbook or exercise book) on the spot in the museum. He has been interested in these items perhaps with the intention of using decorative elements of the objects in his own designs or just for his own personal interest. This would have been at a time when photography was not so readily available and an artist would have had to make quick studies to remind them of items they had seen.
The top corner of the composition has a pencil inscription, in Brangwyn's hand: V&A. The sheet is also peppered with his pencil descriptions to enhance the sketches. The bottom left hand corner- has also been quickly signed in watercolour by the artist, which is unusual for a sketch of this nature. There is a similar studiy of tiles by Brangwn dating to the 1920s, are also in pencil and watercolour washes, and taken from an exercise book, in the collection of the V&A.
This sketch has a good quality mount and frame and is ready for you to hang on your wall. The artwork is in good condition with no damages. I have taken lots of image for your inspection. These decorative arts studies do not come up on the market very often.
