Jack Knox was born in Kirkintilloch in 1936. He studied Drawing and Painting at the Glasgow School of Art. Knox began teaching at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 1965 and was later appointed Head of Painting at Glasgow School of Art in 1981 until his retirement in 1992.
This fine black chalk study reveals the artist’s interest in traditional Dutch still life painting and arranged presentations of cafe foods. It is signed lower right: Knox. It is framed.
His atmospheric and highly stylized paintings and drawings always rely on Knox’s fine draughtsmanship skills, as well as his bold use of colour, light, and shade.
This large, bold still life is being sold framed.
