This is a little job lot of three side plates that date to around the 1950s.
It is fabulous design: entitled Macdonald's Farm (note the Johnston's brothers got the spelling wrong on the backstamp on the base). This is a very rare pattern - and it is now very difficult to source.
The design features naive stylised drawings of items which you might find on an American farmstead. The pattern is transfer printed and hand-coloured under the glaze. I
Each plates measures 8 inches in diameter
In good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The plates do seem to have been used in the past - and there are some very light and faint cutlery marks on the top surface - you cannot see these unless you angle these to a bright light to catch them. But this should not put you off these quirky British ceramics - they are really hard to find - and it might be a long time before I ever find anymore of these. I am listing each plate at £20 to take into consideration rarity and condition.
