This is a perfect display piece for an Art Deco Interior. This is a lovely vibrant example of a 1930s Shelley Pottery Harmony Dripware Vase.
My large ovoid vase was made by Shelley Pottery in the 1930s. Harmony Art Ware was introduced by Shelley in 1932 and evolved through a series of styles under the guidance of Eric Slater.
My vase is signed on the base as photographed. The vase also retains its original paper label on the front - although that is now a little rubbed. It is shape number 988
I love the vibrant colours used in this - the bright tangerine on the shoulders - the mink shade at the rim and the peppermint green and yellow shades towards the base. The drips on this vase are very fine - and it must have taken a lot of work to make this attractive piece of Art Pottery. There are a series of fine horizontal parallel ribs running all around the pot; this adds to its decorative appeal.
This vase is a nice large size for display. It is 8 1/2 inches in height - and 6 3/4 inches in diameter at the widest. Unpacked it is 1.2 kg.
In excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There is a little glaze flaw at the rim - which is slightly lighter in tone - perhaps an area rubbed by the maker's finger. This is not a chip and I have photographed it for you.
This is such a stunning "dripware" piece - and this is reflected in my asking price.
