This is a listing for ONE Antique Ceramic Lid which would have been used on a late 19th Century tobacco box.
Just so there is no confusion - I have 6 matching ones in my shop - but this listing is just for the one. They are £30 EACH LID.
These are original old ceramic lids for storage jars - which would have held tobacco to be used for making cigarettes. The last image that I have listed here shows what the base of the pot would have looked like - you can clearly see one of the lids on it.
The lid reads as follows: Navrati Extra. Size No 3 / London / Manufactured from selected Turkish tobacco’.
These lids date to the very early 1900s. Our lids have old craquelure commensurate with age - this is evident in our close-up photographs. Please look at these images closely, as they form part of our description.
Each top edge diameter of the lid is 11.5 cm. The diameter of the lipped section underneath is 9 cm.
If you are ordering one to put onto a pot-base section. Please measure the diameter of your base so that you are sure that this lid will fit on top of it.
These are RARE survivors - sadly the jar section is no longer present (and complete pots often sell for three-figure sums!). The lids would make great coasters for your coffee table or for wine glasses on a dining table.
All of my ones are in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks, no staining etc.
Postal discounts would apply for more than one lid! UK Posting will be with Royal Mail Recorded post - and this will cost £4.95 and be applied to your order at the checkout.
