This is a larger oval serving platter in the attractive Persephone Pattern and made by Wedgwood.
I have two serving platters listed just now - this larger one and a slightly smaller one - I have photographed both of them together so you can assess the difference in their sizes.
The image was designed by the famous English artist and printmaker, Eric Ravilious (1903 - 1942).
Ravilious was originally commissioned to produce a range of designs for Wedgwood in the 1930s. Many of his original designs were only produced by Wedgwood in the early 1950s.
The platter measures 14 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. Weight unpacked is 1.1 kg.
It is in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or craquelure. There might be the very lightest of cutlery marks on the surface that you are only able to see in close-up inspection and turning the plate to bright sunlight -This is taken into consideration with my pricing.
The design is very typical of the artist's distinctive style - with a fine abstract pattern around the edges - and little abstract fish and cornucopia as the central motif.
The plates have all the expected Wedgwood marks on the base of each plate, as photographed.
