This is a rare and stylish fine bone china tea set made by Royal Staffordshire in the 1950s. It might have been made to commemorate the Festival of Britain in 1951. I have been unable to find another complete set; so if you like it, don't miss out on it!
It is a complete set consisting of a large stylish teapot, milk jug, open sugar bowl, and six small demitasse cups and saucers.
The shape of the tableware is called Merlin Ware - and the pattern is called Vogue. I love the back stamp used on these pieces - and the use of the little Wizard figure representing Merlin.
It is certainly a most attractive set and listed at a fair price.
It is in perfect condition with no damage. The silver rim on all pieces is free from rubbing and certainly catches the light. The exterior of the little demitasse cups is a powder blue colour. This pretty blue shade is picked up on the handle, the spout, and the teapot lid. I adore the shape of the pot - it is so stylish. The pattern on the front and back of the teapot shows an almost atomic floral one. This pattern is also on the saucers and inside all the cups etc.
The teapot measures 8 1/2 inches from the spout to the handle. It is 7 3/4 inches tall (including the lid). The milk jug is about 4 inches from handle to spout and at the highest point is 2 3/4 inches. The teacup is 3 1/4 inches in height with a diameter of 3 inches. The saucers are 4 3/4 inches in diameter.
