This is a lovely crystal decanter made by John Walsh Walsh Glass.

It is in the Kenilworth Pattern was first introduced in 1925 and was a very popular design. Walsh's decorative patterns required the experience of highly skilled cutters.

These cutting skills established Walsh as one of the leading glass manufacturers in the U.K. and a front-runner in the art and craft of fine cut glass.

The decanter is certainly a fancy one with a fine silver collar made by Mappin & Webb.

There is the Mappin & Webb maker's mark (slightly rubbed) beside the London hallmark for the year 1934. On the base is a very lightly etched mark for Walsh glass.

The stopper is a nice snug fit in the silver collar - and is shaped like a large mushroom with engraved facets around the top of the stopper which echoes the etched star on the base.

As you can see a beautifully made crystal decanter in good vintage condition. It has no chips or cracks - and no clouding to the interior of the glass.

Height including the stopper is 10 inches and with a diameter at its widest of 5 inches. Weight unpacked is 1.4 kg

A very fine piece and a fabulous piece of glassware for dispensing port or rich clarets from for more formal events over the festive season.
