This is a very beautiful vintage heavy glass bowl made by Caithness Glass as a special piece to celebrate the tercentenary of the founding of the Bank of Scotland.
It dates to 1995 and was made in a limited edition for presentation to bank officials etc.
The glass is a lovely Royal blue colour - reflecting the rich blue in the Scottish Saltire. It is then decorated with hand etches thistles and heather coloured glass swirls within the glass to represent the flowers.
The bowl sits on a clear foot (there are three little plastic raised dots on the base to life the bowl ever so slightly from the table top). There is also an etched inscription on the foot base which gives details of the bank anniversary. This can only be seen when looking through the center of the bowl from the top into the foot (and as a much smaller size) - but it is not intrusive and documents this souvenir piece.
Condition: My lovely Scottish glass bowl is in excellent condition with no damage. It a large, chunky bowl and stands just over 6 inches. Diameter is 8 inches.
Caithness Glass is no longer being made in Scotland; this is certainly going to be a hot collectable for the future.
It is certainly very substantial piece of Scottish glass (nearly 2.9 kg) - and sadly can only to sent to UK addresses. This will be sent with Parcelforce24 and will be applied to your order at the checkout.
