This unusual piece 1990s piece of Scottish Glass. It was made by Perthshire Glass - looking to earlier Monart and Strathearn glass wares for inspiration. It is not a piece MONART or VASART vase, and it is later in creation. It has been hand-blown, so is still a unique piece.
All the same, this is a lovely piece of vintage Scottish glass.
The main body colour clear with speckled aqua inclusions towards the base. Around the neck and shoulder of the vase are swirls of dark purple. The main body section has a little domed lid in matching colours. The top of the dome has a raised pontil mark - which has been polished but not completely burnished off. There is also a raised polished pontil mark on the base.
The vase and cover / ginger jar is unmarked - it has no maker's name. There is a similar earlier Monart one designed by Salvador Ysart in the V&A. The maker of this piece was probably looking back to these 1930s creations.
The lidded vase is in excellent condition with no damages. It is an unusual piece of late 20th century Scottish art glass - I have struggled to find another like it.
Dimensions: The overall height is 5 1/2 inches. The diameter at the widest point is 5 inches.
