This is one of three late Georgian period glass bird feeders that I have listed on my site. They are for popping into the cage of an exotic bird and which you might either fill with seed or water.

The glass is blown and hollow with a form open spout for the bird to get at the contents through - at the top is a simple decoration - there is a hollow blown ball finial and simple frilled clear glass ring collar.

These were obviously prone to getting lost or broken over the last few hundred years - and the ones that I have listed in my shop date to the early 19th century.

In excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The interior has a little patch of old water staining to it - very minor and not seen if you fill with water or bird seed.

Height is 5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm) and the width of the spout section is 4 1/4 inches (10.8 cm)

Other similar antique birdfeeders can be seen in the book: "British Glass  1800-1915" by Charles R Hajdamach, on page 380 (plate 347).

Fair price for these rare survivors. Postage will be with UK Royal Mail (Recorded Small Parcel). This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
