This is a really sweet etching showing little children playing games.

This one shows two little groups of children pulling carts - there are two groups. The lead group consists of three children running swiftly in full flight - a little baby is enjoying the hurl. In the distance is the slow-coach - a wee girl trying to catch up with her older siblings - she only has a wee teddy bear in her cart.

The etching is by Eileen Soper - who was famed for these sensitive and quite delicate etchings showing scenes from childhood.

Soper was an etcher and illustrator of children's and wildlife books. She produced a series of charming etchings mainly of children playing and illustrated books for other writers, most notably for Enid Blyton on the Famous Five Books.

Some of her illustrations of children and animals were used in a china series for children by Paragon China in the 1930s.
Her father was the celebrated printmaker George Soper - please see my other works by him in my Etsy store.

This fine print by Eileen Soper is a lovely proof impression from the only edition which was published in 1923. It is the second impression of this work that I have been lucky enough to have for sale - my other one has been sold.

The image measures: 10.1 x 17.3 cm. The frame measures 33 x 40 cm.

This impression of The Go-Cart - has recently been professionally re-framed - and it has a new cream-coloured acid-free window mount - and a simple black frame. I have four listed for sale in my shop just now - which are all framed as a wee set with frames of the same size and moulding.

The print is in excellent condition and is a nice clean impression with no marks or spotting on the sheet. It is pencil signed by Soper, lower right.  A fair asking price for a harder-to-find work by this popular artist.

UK postage will be £10 with Royal Mail Recorded post - this will be applied to your order at the checkout.
