This is a really sweet drypoint etching showing three little children feeding a stray cat a saucer of milk. The little boy to the right bends down with a large shallow bowl for the cat - to the left his sister looks on - and the little toddler is totally fascinated by the strange creature in front of her.
The etching is by Eileen Soper - who was famed for her delicate etchings showing scenes from childhood.
Soper was an etcher and illustrator of children's and wildlife books. She produced a series of charming etchings mainly of children playing and illustrated books for other writers, most notably for Enid Blyton on the Famous Five Books.
Some of her illustrations of children and animals were used in a china series for children by Paragon China in the 1930s.

This print is from one of a wee set of four antique works by Soper that I have just had all re-framed for sale. They have each been given a new cream-coloured window mount and a simple black frame. Each frame is the same size and has the same moulding. It is beautifully presented ready for you to hang on your wall.
The image measures: 19.5 x 14.7 cm. The frame measures 40 x 33 cm.
