This is a lovely piece of mid-century modern ceramics.
It is a Poole Biscuit Barrel with an Eggshell Finish. The main body colour is an off-white sepia shade and the lid is a chocolate brown./ mushroom colour. There are two lugs on the side which holds the woven rattan handle. This is in good condition with no breaks to the canework.
The interior is clean without stains. There are no chips or cracks. There are four little white felt pads that have been applied to the base - so that the ceramic does not scratch your furniture of work surfaces.
The pattern is called Trudiana which was designed in the 1950s by Ruth Pavely and was hand-painted by Shelia Jenkins. It was very much a popular design with the public and is certainly still a stylish one in modern interiors. The pattern appears on both side of the barrel.
Although the pattern was much produced it is now much harder to find on these early twin-tone biscuit barrels. This is reflected in my asking price.
Dimensions: The overall height (including the knop on the lid) is 6 1/4 inches. From base to top of handle is 9 inches. From lug to lug is 6 1/4 inches and the diameter at the widest point is 5 1/2 inches. The diameter of the lid is 4 3/4 inches.
Due to its size - the pot would have to be sent to you with Royal Mail Tracked Medium parcel. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
