The town of Selb is located in Bavaria in Germany. It is best known for its porcelain products - and is the home to the Rosenthal Factory.
The "Selber Wiesenfest", a traditional fair with thousands of visitors per day, always takes place on the "Goldberg" on the second weekend of July.
The Hutschenreuther Porcelain factory was also located in Bavaria and was known for its fine craftsmanship, intricate designs, and attention to detail. It was founded in 1814 - but sadly went bankrupt in 1999 and was subsequently acquired by Rosenthal in the year 2000.
This is a very rare decorative wall plate. It was made to celebrate the Selb Festival in 1967. It has a plate hanger applied to the back, as manufactured and is 9 3/4 inches in diameter. It is made of fine white porcelain - with the design printed on the front.
It is very cute with five little cartoon figures celebrating the special day. They are dressed in fancy costumes. The crest of the town of Selb is seen to the lower right. The figures are surrounded by garlands of summer flowers.
I think that this is very rare piece of German Porcelain as I cannot find another commemorating the event.
