This is a decorative vintage Wedgwood lidded tureen or lidded serving dish which dates to the 1950s.
The Persephone pattern was designed by the famous English artist and printmaker, Eric Ravilious (1903 - 1942).

Ravilious was originally commissioned to produce a range of designs for Wedgwood in the 1930s. Many of his original designs were only produced by Wedgwood in the early 1950s.
This tureen measures about 6 inches in height to the top of the lid knop and the diameter at the widest is 8 1/2 inches.
The design is very typical of the artist's distinctive style - with a fine abstract pattern around the edges - and little abstract fish and cornucopia as the central motif.
It is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The knop on the lid is undamaged. The dish has all the expected Wedgwood marks on the base of the tureen.
