Roth is a relatively small ceramics company. They are based in Eberhahn in West Germany. They were at their manufacturing peak in the 1960s and 1970s - and are still in existence today.
This vase was made from red clay and has a moulded mark on the base. The main body has a blue-outlined white and black lava glaze - this is found only on the purple examples.
These purple fat lava Roth vases are very collectable and highly sought after.
My one is the largest of the two and is a Shape 311 Vase. It has a stunning moulded glossy purple oval pattern surrounded by the textured lava glaze. The largest vase is 26 cm in height (10 1/4 inches). The base is matt and has the moulded 311 West Germany inscription on it.
It is listed at a fair price for this attractive purple one - it is in excellent vintage condition with no damage of any kind.
