This elephant was designed by the Italian ceramic artist Roberto Rigon (1927 – 2017) when he worked for Etruria Arte in the 1950s.
It is a rare and much sought-after item – especially in this fine condition.
The elephant is very stylised with a white egg-shell glaze and with hand-painted colourful abstract decoration. It is marked “Made in Italy” on the base.
It is in fabulous condition with no damage of any kind. The tusks are intact with no chips or restoration.
It is a fairly large size for display. It is 20 cm long and 12.5 cm high. It has a depth at the width point of 10.5 cm.
