This is a rarer stoneware plant pot which was made by Buchan Pottery, who were based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed).
It dates on stylistic grounds to the late 1950s. It is a more unusual pattern and one that you do not see so often on Buchan pieces.
This rare pattern and shape is probably of interest to collectors of Buchan pieces - and its rarity is reflected in my asking price for this wonderful tankard. It is in excellent condition with no damage.
The plant pot is very substantial and has a good bit of weight to it - perfect for small indoor plants or a spiky Cacti! I have popped a little artificial plant inside it - to show what it might look like with a plant of your choice. You don't find these plant pots that often and this is reflected in my plant pot.
The pattern has a bit of a Festival of Britain feel to it - with vertical stripes in tangerine - a thin blue vertical line, and a pink wavy line with blue dots to each side - this design goes around the pot. There are ground oval daubs of pale green freely applied in between this pattern
Dimensions: The height of the pot is just under 4 1/2 inches. The diameter at the top is 4 3/4 inches and the base has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches.
It would cost £5.50 to send to you in the UK with Royal Mail recorded delivery. This would be applied to your order at checkout.
