This is a a large piece of stoneware pottery which was made by Buchan Pottery, who were based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed).
It dates on stylistic grounds to the late 1950s. It is a large serving platter and measures about 36 x 26 cm.
It pattern is called Summertime and consists of two orange and yellow summer poppies and one as an opening bud. It looks a little like Highland Stone in its decoration. It will look wonderful on display on a Welsh Dresser in a country kitchen.
This pattern and shape is probably of interest to collectors of Buchan pieces
Dimensions: It measures 14 inches x 10 1/4 inches. It is a very substantial piece and weights 1.4 kg in weight.
