This is an unusually shaped geometric paperweight designed for Caithness Glass by the glass maestro, Colin Terris. It is called Chorale and is an earlier one dating to 1987.
The paperweight woud have originally been a large spherical weight - but it is now more of a pyramid shape. The top half has been sliced away with four angled teardrop-shaped faCets - which all meet at a rounded point. Inside the weight you can see four silvered air-bubbles on the base and in the central zone is a small floating silvery air-bubble. The base of the weight is a clear dark Royal Blue Colour (about a cm deep) and on top the base has a sprinking of dark aqua grains.
It is a clever design which relies on the airbubles being reflected in the glass facets so that it looks more are present than actually are - it is a little like they do with "magic mirrors" at a funfair. It is certainly very effective in this weight.
It is number 152 out of an edition of a slightly larger edition of 1000. It closed at 816. It is classifed as CT-560.
It measures 2 3/4 inches in height and with a diameter of 3 inches at the widest.
The paperweight is in excellent vintage condition with chips, or cracks. It is certainly a lovely one by Terris - and this is reflected in my asking price.
It will be shipped to you with Royal Mail Tracked (Small Parcel). This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
