This is a stunning vintage Scottish Caithness Glass paperweight. The title of the weight is Aladdin.
It was made in 1990 by the celebrated Caithness glass designer, Colin Terris (CT- 716). It is from a limited edition of 250 (closed at 181) and this one is No. 156 The issue price was £140.
It is a sphertical weight with a two roses of cut-away and polished facets on the outer edge. There are nine of these in total. There is also a larger polished viewing facet on the top. It is a darkly coloured weight - and would benefit from being displayed in a bright light to illuminate all the details. There is a little purple coloured air-bubble inside and trails of very fine blue ribbons hooping around this. There is no base on the weight - it is all the one clear and dark Topaz coloured glass.
An interesting Scottish weight - in good vintage condition and looks great in your collection. Perhaps the darker amber colour is not so attractive to more modern tastes, and I have priced this to take this into account - it is less than half the issue price back in 1990!
The height 2 1/2 inches and with a diameter of 3 inches at the widest point.
