These mid-century dishes, designed by the celebrated Norwegian ceramic designer, Inger Waage for Stavangerflint, are now highly collectable.
This dish dates to the 1950s and is fully marked to the base, as photographed.
Her work is featured in a comprehensive study of her work "Inger Waage: Design for Stavangerflint 1953 - 1979)". This tome was published by Jan Gjerde in Norwegian - with the inclusion of a short English summary.
This is a rather eye-catching larger serving bowl by her - and it would not only look fabulous on display on your Ladderex furniture - or Scandi-Modern furniture - but is also perfectly functional and would make a great serving bowl for chips to go with your dips. Holds oodles!
The interior is decorated all around the sides with an abstract view of three houses in a fishing village with an abstract yellow boat in front. There are abstract leaves in between each house motif - which I assume as seaweed tendrils. There is a hand-painted blue circle in the centre. The thing that I like best about this beautiful Scandinavian bowl is the glorious yellow colour on the outside and the space-age undulating rim.
It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks - if you tap it, it gives off a fine clear ring. There is a wee blue mark on the base - which occurred in the making and is the vibrant blue glaze coming through to the base area. It is not damage - but part of the making!
Dimensions: 4 1/2 inches in height - it has a diameter of 8 1/4 inches. Unpacked it is 800 grams.
These large Norwegian are much sought after and offered here at a very fair price.
It would have to be sent to you as a medium parcel due to its size - this will cost just over £6.95 with Royal Mail Recorded - this will be applied at the checkout.
