This is a beautiful Art Nouveau / Jugendstil Pampas Inkwell made in Austrian by Kralik Glass.
It is one of two similar antique inkwells that I have in my store. The other one is the green one (with slight damage and priced accordingly). It dates to around 1905. I have taken a couple of photographs of both of them together so you can see what they look like on display.
Similar Kralik inkwells with three buttressed corners and trailing bands are on display in the Passau Museum in Germany.
This inkwell has a clear / white iridescent body with bright turquoise blue ribbon decorations. It inkwell - as the usual leaf-shaped brass hinged lid. The lid has been polished up on the exterior - but left with its original patina inside.
Again, a nice larger size for an inkwell - the diameter of the base is about 11.5 cm. The height including the lid cover is about 6.5cm
In good antique condition with no chips or cracks in the body section. It has a fitted glass inkwell pot inside, as photographed. The fitting of the glass inkwell pot looks a little rough so I have reduced the price a little to take this into account.
These beautiful Nouveau inkwells are now hard to source and are items for the specialist collector.
