This is a decorative large glass cockatoo. He has possibly been made at Formia Vetri Murano in Italy, but he is definitely Italian in origin. I would image that he dates to around the 1970s / 1980s.
Mr Cockatoo is a nice tall and substantial glass sculpture. He measures 11 3/4 inches in height, and is just over 3 inches at the widest point and at the base.
He has been hand-blown and has a nicely ground base section, as photographed. The cockatoo's main body colour is white glass - and this is overlayed with flat, fused ribbons of red, green, yellow and blue. These stretch from under his head down to the base. The base is made of clear crystal glass dome which forms a stylized chunky foot or perch section.
He has a little black glass eye and a clear glass crest of feathers on his head. His beak is also clear glass. Being hand blown, there are a couple of tiny air bubbles obvious in his crest (these occurred in the making and are consistent with the figurine being all handmade.
I have taken lots of photographs for your inspection.
The sculpture is in excellent condition with no damages. He is a stunner - and as a substantial item with a good bit of weight, I would have to sent to you with Royal Mail Tracked (Medium Parcel). This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
