This is a pretty vintage glass Venetian glass candlestick. It was probably made in Murano in the 1950s / 1960s.
It is a quality piece of vintage glass and it could easily be attributed to Archimede Seguso who was well-known for making very similar candlesticks. It also resembles similar ones made by Salviati in the mid-20th Century. But without any signature or labels it is hard to put a definite firm attribution on this fine piece.
The candlestick is a single one - and beautifully made. It is a nice large size and looks quite stunning on display.
The base is made of ruby glass with a swirl of fine pink ridges running around it. The shaft of the candlestick takes the form of a dolphin to little fish with a raised and twisting tail section. It is made of clear glass with gold aventurine flecks inside. The little fish has applied glass eyes. Above the candleholder section has a large round ruby glass drip tray - and the scone into which you pop your candle. These also has raised ridges as decoration.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no damage. It is an older piece - probably now about 50 years old.
The height is 10 1/4 inches. The diameter of the base is 5 1/4 inches. The diameter of the ruby coloured glass drip tray at the top is 4 inches. The height of the sconce ruby section at the top is 3 1/4 inches. The fluted rim of the candleholder section is 2 inches and it would take a candle with a diameter of about an inch.
