This is an earlier piece of handcrafted globe shaped vase that was probably designed by Michael Harris. It is not signed by him but has an early label and flame pontil mark, as photographed. The flame pontil mark was generally used from 1974 to 1979. The black horizontal oblong label with white text, used late 1970s at least until 1979. This all helps date my vase to being a later 70s piece.
It is part of his "Aurene" range for Isle of Wight Studio Glass. It is impressed with the "flame" pontil mark on the base - and retains its original old paper label.
Aurene vases date to 1974 - 1982. It is a blue one with a predominantly blue upper half and browns and ochres in the lower half, It has random speckles of gold aventurine throughout. and a slight lustre to the surface.
It is 5 1/2 inches in diameter. It is 5 1/4 inches in height. The rim section has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches. In great condition with no chips, cracks, or bruises. It is a larger size and an early Isle of Wight piece - this is reflected in my asking price.
It is now getting much harder to find these early Isle of Wight art glass works.
