Antoine de la Boulaye was born in 1951 and is considered one of France's contemporary horse artists.
This drawing shows an Oriental Horseman leading a fine Arab Horse. The stallion has a fine saddle and headdress. Although this is a more contemporary work - the execution of it reminds me of 19th-century Orientalist works by artists such as Eugene Delacroix and Sie David Wilkie.
Boulaye's career spans three decades, starting with his education at the Ecole Superieure d’Arts Graphiques of the Academie Julian in Paris.
His official recognition, however, came in 1984, when he was commissioned by the President of France to paint two paintings offered as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II during the President’s visit.
Boulaye's works are represented in both private and public collections, including Her Majesty the Queen, Banque Societe Generale, Fond Regional d’Art Contemporain of the Loire region, Fond National d’Art Contemporain (French Embassies in Mexico and in Madrid), Bibliotheque Nationale - Paris, and in the La Roche sur Yon Museum (Arthoteque), France.
The image size is 19 x 26 cm. The frame is a simple gold tone one and measures 36 x 42.5 cm.
It drawing is pencil signed, as photographed - and is being offered framed and with a grey-blue window mount.
I have two works by this fine equestrian artist for sale in my store - both were purchased from the Bernard Chauchet Contemporary Art Gallery in London. Each has his original label on the back of the frame, as photographed.
