This is an simple antique Indian miniature watercolour painting.
On stylistic grounds, it probably dates to the early 20th century.
This one features a full-length portrait of a nobleman. It is painted in watercolours highlighted with gold. It is on a little tablet - which is made of a slim ivorine material.
It is very decorative - I love it! The image shows an Indian gentleman dressed ochre-brown tunic. The tunic is decorated with an all-over pattern of gold dots. The gentleman wears a long white sash-belt with gold details, and a gold sash - details of his costume (the hem, and armbands) are gold. He wears two rows of pearls. The delineation of his face is so delicated and bestlooked at in close-up.
It portrait has a gold border. It is mounted on a sheet of cream coloured card. The frame is a latter one - but it looks just fine on the little artwork. It is a nice clean watercolour - all ready to hang on your wall. I have taken lots of images so you can see all the details in the work. It will look lovely on display.
Dimensions: Frame size is 23.5 x 16 cm. The image size is 11.8 x 5 cm.
It is in good condition and is in a vintage silver-tone wooden frame. It is an attractive work for display - and ready for you to just hang on your wall.
