This is probably an item for the specialist collector of vintage salt and pepper shakers.
This one is in excellent condition with no damage.
It dates to around the late 1950s or early 1960s, and probably was made in Japan.
The cruet set takes the form of a little Chinese farmer. He has been out in the fields and gathering things for the market in his two baskets. These he carries by balancing on a pole across his shoulders.
The baskets are where you would put your salt and pepper - and have little holes in the top and stoppers in the base.
On his way home he is greeted on his farm by a little duckling who is seen in the foreground running up to him.
Very sweet cruet set - it is certainly a rather rare example of a mid-century novelty salt and pepper set.
