This is a fine early silver brooch by Declan Killen.
It has an Edinburgh Hallmark on the back which dates it to 1984. It also has the maker's mark: DMK. Declan Killen Goldsmith and Jeweller were established in Dublin in 1985. Each piece of Declan’s jewellery begins with a drawing for the design from which a master pattern is made. The basic shape of the piece is then cast, after which it is meticulously finished by hand thus creating a high-quality piece of jewellery.
It is a beautifully made piece - taking the form of a loose Celtic knot - with a dragon's head biting at one of the tendrils.
The brooch is 1 3/4 inches wide and 1 1/4 inches in height.
It is nice and shiny with no condition issues. It is clean and all ready to wear.
