This is a very elegant pair of late Victorian hallmarked silver items. They are matched pieces - consisting of a silver creamer or little milk jug and an open sugar bowl.
They are of half-lobed form and in excellent condition - with no inscriptions, dents or scratches. They have a little thin gold wash to the interior.
Each piece is marked on the base: Mappin and Webb / London. They are also each hallmarked on the exterior rim with the date 1900 and for Sheffield.
Dimensions: The jug is from spout to handle just over 10 cm. The diameter is 7 cm. Height to the top of the handle is 4.7 cm. The sugar bowl is 4 cm in height - with a diameter of 8.5 cm.
The total weight is 112 grams.
These lovely silver serving items come in their original shaped black leather case - dating to the Victorian era. The shape of it is very unusual and the antique case is in excellent condition. It is lined with ruffled claret silk in the top of the lid - and the base is velvet.
The lid is stamped in gold with the Mappin and Webb Logo.
I just love that case - it so rare to find one in such a lovely condition - and the items inside are just as nice. You will not be disappointed with it - great item for serving up strawberries and cream - as you watch tennis at Wimbledon.
