This is a vintage Swedish Stainless Steel Ashtray which has hard black plastic inserts.
These 1960s / 1970s ashtrays are very sculptural items - with a stainless base with three black plastic semi-circular "fingers" rising from the base. The top has circles cut into the domed area - and these can twist about revealing a round window when in the open position and when twisted to closed - are backfilled by the black plastic below, all as photographed.
The orb shape is very space age - atomic in design.
It is just over 3 1/2 inches in height - with a diameter of about 4 inches.

I have actually personally owned these in my own collection for many years - so always been looked after. Both are nice and clean - with no evidence of either ever having been used. You could perhaps pop some potpourri inside now and use it to keep the air fresh in your interior.
