This is a beautiful antique table or desk lamp. It is a lovely original Edwardian one and is in excellent antique condition.
The main body of the lamp is made of brass - the base is round with concentric circles in the centre where the tall upstand shaft arises from.
The upstand has the little decorative round lozenges at the base and then at the top there is a large sturdy decorative ring with two diabolo additions. The large brass ring can be used as a useful carrying handle.
There is a bracket which transverses the upright bar - this has a large finger screw on one side - which you loosen and tighten to allow the swan neck section of the lamp to rise and fall. At the opposite side of this screw is a ratchet or knuckle joint which allows you to angle the swan-neck and shade angle up and down. So a good lamp for setting into a variety of positions.
You can adjust the height by moving the arm up and down the whole length of the upstand
I have taken lots of images for your inspection. The lamp is really lovely just on its own - but my own comes with a genuine old Vaseline shade. It has a pale yellow iridescent sheen nearer the bulb holder and a more opaque yellow on its frilly skirt. The shade has no damages - and the lamp.is in very fine condition. There are a couple of minute dings on the base - you can hardly notice these and this is mentioned for accuracy - please closing examine my photographs of this area in particular.
The lamp has been fully re-wired and earthed before listing. It has 2 1/2 meters of copper or dark gold three core cloth cable. So all fine to just plug in and use with no worries.
Everything is perfectly clean and gleaming - you will not be disappointed with it.
The overall height of the lamp (base to top of upstand ring) is 22 inches. The base has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches.
The Vaseline glass shade has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches - and a height of 4 1/2 inches.
