This is a fine antique Glasgow School / Arts and Crafts brass wall charger or plaque.
It is made of brass with the most exquisite and delicate reverse punched repousse decoration.
The central field is highly polished with no decoration. Around the edge are natural forms that form an abstracted border. There are roundels and a band of entwined loose knotwork.
The charger is in excellent condition with no damages - it retains its original hanging fittings on the reverse and is all ready to just hang on your wall.
It is a nice large item - with a diameter of 19 inches (48cm), The inner dish section is 9 inches (23 cm). Unpacked weight is 1.3 kg.
This is a very attractive design and also one which is r skillfully rendered - with a nice wired edge to give it strength and rigidity - and is a sign of quality.
As with many of these Glasgow School brass chargers - there is no signature or maker's mark assigned to this one. It is a fine large display piece. There is one very fine scratch to the central area - hardly noticeable - but no other condition issues.
