This is a very fine vintage handmade Scottish silver caddy spoon.
With all the reflections coming from the metal - it has been rather difficult to photograph - but rest assured it is in completely tip-top condition and you would not be unhappy with it.
It is hallmarked on the reverse with an Edinburgh hallmark for the year 2003. It also has the maker's stamp: EAA.
This mark is for the Orkney Silversmiths, Kevin and Liz Allen (Orkneyinga Silversmiths). Kevin started his mastercraftsman's training at the age of 16, when he was apprenticed to a Sheffield Silversmith, and Liz graduated from Sheffield Art College after studying Silversmithing and Jewellery. They are known for the exceptional quality of their work.
Orkneyinga Silver was founded in 1989 and all their pieces are handmade with fine attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship in all pieces.
This design is probably one which was specially commissioned and is possibly unique. The bowl of the caddy spoon is nice and round - the shallow bowl is perfect for scooping out the leaf tea from your caddy to pop into your teapot. The finial is where you would rest your thumb. It features two confronted mythical beasts (? Griffins) - probably inspired by creatures from Norse legends.
This is a fine vintage designer piece of Scottish silver - it is in excellent condition - and it will be sent to you polished, clean and sparkling. I will pop it in a little card gift box.
Contemporary pieces by the Allens always have high ticket prices due to the quality of the workmanship.
UK Postage will be capped at £4.95. This will be with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
