I havent had these in stock for a wee while. This is a boxed set of stylish vintage longer-handed fish knives and forks that date to the 1960s. They were made by Gerald Benney for Viners and the design is called Studio. This pattern is one of the most sought after in the Viners range - and it is certainly a piece of mid-century classic design.
Dimensions: The knives are just over 8 1/2 inches (22 cm). The forks are 7 3/4 inches (19.5 cm).
On offer here are a set of six matching knives and forks. Each knife is XX inches in length. They come in their original box 60s box - sadly the box has a few skuffs on the outside - but all the cutlery is competely pristine - and the set has never been used. Not a mark on any of them!

These are genuine vintage examples, as annotated on the back of each piece of cutlery: VINERS OF SHEFFIELD or with a slightly later Viners mark featuring a lion's head, as photographed. But otherwise all identical.
HISTORY: The designer Adrian Gerald Sallis Benney (1930 - 2008) was a celebrated British goldsmith and silversmith. He was born in Hull, Yorkshire and served as the Professor of Silversmithing and Jewellery at the Royal College of Art from 1974 - 1983. He was made a CBE in 1995. During a career spanning more than 50 years, he was the first British craftsman to hold four Royal Warrants simultaneously. His work has had a major impact on the survival of domestic silver in Britain.
In his early years, Benney was influenced by the purity and minimalism of Scandinavian design. From 1957 to 1969 he designed stainless steel cutlery for Viners. His most popular design was "Studio" and the design remains popular to this day. Benney is certainly one of Britain's most interesting 20th-century designers.
