This is a sweet little trinket box that was issued in the 1950s by the P&O Company (Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company). Their logo is on the burnished lozenge on the top of the box.

This is a collectible little box. It was issued to First Class Passengers sailing in the 1950s on P&O Cruises - presented with the compliments of the Managing Director and Chairman of the Company.

The box is of square format and made of textured metal with a gold-tone finish. The box is hinged (as photographed) and stands on four ball feet. This one is more unusual in that it has a decorative clasp applied to the front section of the box.

On the lid is the P&O Coat of Arms - with the motto "Quis nos separabit" (who will separate us). In the center of the lid is the P&O Coat of Arms and the motto "Quis nos separabit" (who will separate us). The arms include depictions of creatures that you might see on your cruise destinations: a lion, an elephant, a kangaroo, and a dragon - all contained within a shield

The interior of the box is lined with vibrant purple velvet.  The velvet is totally clean with no stains or fading etc to the fabric.

Dimensions: 7.5 cm square - with a height of about 4.5 cm

It is in fairly good condition for its age - with a couple of little light areas of rubbing to the gold tones on the sides where the box has been picked up over the last 70 years. So I would say in pretty good condition for its age. It is nice and shiny and a great addition to a collection of nautical souvenirs.

I have taken a number of photographs for your inspection.

It will be sent to you in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. This will cost £5.50 and applied to your order at the checkout.
