This is a nice item to add to you collection of carved coconuts or antique Indian carvings.
The is a late 18th or early 19th century carved coconut cup. It comes as a simple carved cup with no stand, mounts or lid. This is reflected in the price. It is a very interesting item with fine carving.
The little carved coconut cup comes from South East Asia and is possibly Burmese or Indian in origin. The design with its arched panels and four sections carved with dancing characters in traditional dress are typical of this region.
Just below the rim there is a band of flowers and the overall quality of carving is high for this type of item. The coconut itself is a rich deep brown colour and it has no chips, cracks or damages.
Dimensions: The diameter at the widest is 4 1/4 inches. The height is 3 1/4 inches.
I have taken lots of images for the carving for your inspection.
