I love this - and had it hanging in my bathroom for a while. It was very decorative with a most stylish Art Deco form and decoration. I have just had my bathroom refurbished - and it just didn't fit in with my more modernist design - so sadly, I am listing the light fitting on my site for sale.
'With the exotic ladies or nymphs as part of the decoration - the shade is a "sexy" addition to a little boudoir.
It reminds me a little of those glass hanging clam shell shades which are made of three sections and held together by chrome bars.
This one is a much rarer variant - the three panels have Art Deco geometric patterns - and nude ladies or nymphs dancing about with joy with hands raised in the air. Placed upside down they look as if they might be diving. They are beautifully modelled and have such an elegant Deco shape. I have taken lots of photographs for your inspection - on a few I have had to tweak the contrast about a little to help you see the detail in the making. This pressed glass shade is about the same size as the shell ones. It is made from pressed and moulded sugar-pink semi-opaque glass. Again, it consists of three matching panels held together by chrome metal bands. At the end of each band, inside the shade - there are little built-in hook sections for you to attach the chains (this makes hanging of the shade so much easier). The section of the lamp where the chrome bars meet in the center - is embellished with a chrome finial - circular in shape with a shaped point in the middle.
The shade is in good antique condition - it has no chips, cracks, or damage to the glass. The chrome fittings are nice and shiny on the exterior where they are on display - there is a little bit of antique patina to the chrome interior - but nothing to worry about. The ceiling hanging hook and chains are coming with the shade. Please note - these are not original to the shade - but are more contemporary replacements.
I have this listed as being British in origin, possibly Bagley Glass - but it might be French in origin. It has no maker's marks.
Listed at a fair price taking into account the fine condition, age, decorative nymphs and indeed its rarity.
Dimensions: the shade is 13 inches in diameter. It has an overall height of 7 inches. The chrome chains are 15 inches in length. There are three of them - which easily hook on the shade on the back of the metal bands.
