This is a rare limited edition paperweight - made in 1994 by the great Caithness glass designer, Colin Terris in collaboration with the the designer Alastair Macintosh (CT- 1095). As annotated with etched signatures by each of them on the base. There are also in addition all the usual annotations you might expect on a vintage Caithness weight.
I must admit that I am totally enthralled by this wonderful paperweight.
It is from a limited edition of 650 - and this one is No. 93. The issue was fully subscribed.
The title of the weight is Fairy Tale - and it is a high-domed egg-shaped weight. It is a very sweet design - and it is a high domed weight, shaped like an egg.
The weight is frosted all over - apart from the cut facet to the front which is highly polished. When you look at this polished facet you can see inside a base of aquamarine blue and aqua coloured swirls with tiny controlled bubbles - from this issues a little white flower or fountain type of inclusion - almost sulphide in nature, and this reminds me a little of the little floral inclusions that you might see in older Victorian glass dumps.
It is hard to find this particular weight - and this one is in perfect condition. Height 3 3/4 inches.
Please note any white marks on my weight are on the photos and not on the weight... this are no issues with regard to condition etc
