This is one of a selection of vintage Scottish paperweights which I am listing - all with very fair prices attached to them.
The one was made by Selkirk Glass in the Scottish Borders. It has its original paper label on the base. and is has the date inscribed on the base: 2001
Selkirk Glass was set up by Peter Holmes and Ron Hutchison in 1977. Peter Holmes left in 2002. The company sadly closed in 2006 - so these beautiful weights are no longer being made.
It has a height of 2 1/2 inches and a diameter of 2 3/4 inches. The weight unpacked is 500 grams.
It is a more simple design of a smaller size - this is reflected in my asking price for this one. It is made of clear glass and has an emerald base with white choppy peaks above - rather like feathers. In the centre of the weight is a large golden airbubble - and little tiny random bubbles above it.
It is inscribed Selkirk Glass Scotland 2001 and Happy Birthday Stella on the base. The dedication to Stella has resulted in a much reduced price for this weight to £20. The weight is still a most attractive one - nearly 25 years old and in perfect condition.
