This is a large size Scottish paperweight. It has an etched inscription on the base: Caithness Scotland.
It has no issue number of title on the base - so possibly from a small edition size. On stylistic basis it is probably by Helen Macdonald - as the little pointed peaks in the design are very reminiscent of similar layered peaks in other weights by her. It is probably from the 1980s or 1990s in date.
It is certainly a very attractive piece and a nice large magnum size. It is a flattened oval shape with a large polished facet on the top. When you look into the weight you see the petals of a white flower that looks like a furled rose. Around the central blossom are little pointed leaves made of fine mottled green layers. The bloom floats in the centre of the weight - and the base is a pale lilac colour with white sprinkles on the top.
It is certainly a most lovely and hard to find Caithness weight. I have look through the Caithness Catalogue and online resources - but have found another example. I have therefore priced based on its aesthetic quality.
It is in perfect condition and looks fabulous on display.
It measures 3 3/4 inches in diameter and has a height of 2 1/4 inches. Unpacked it is 950 grams.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection. It will be sent in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded Post. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
