This is a very attractive teardrop-shaped paperweight designed for Caithness Glass by Margot Thomson.
It has a fabulous shape with a faceted and polished viewing window on the front.
When you look into the polished facet - you can see a joyful set of three air bubbles and swirls and fine glass trails which suggest the fun and excitement that you might see in a Mardi Gras carnival.
It is number 584 out of an edition of 650 (fully subscribed).
When it was first issued back in the 1980s - it was retailed at £65 - so my price for this one is certainly now a very fair one.
It measures 3 inches in diameter and 3 3/4 inches in height.
