This is a vintage powder compact for pressed powders.
It also has a lift-off ring with a wee catch inside which can be raised to allow the pressed powder to go in and closes to keep it in place.
As you can see from my photographs - it is generally nice and clean and hardly used.
There is a mirror in the lid which is generally clean with no disfiguring marks to the glass.
The compact is a more unusual shape with a "pie-crust" edge all around. The exterior lid is decorated with an image of a golden pheasant standing on the branches of an oriental plant with pretty red and pink flowers. The background colour is a rich claret red enamel - it is very shiny - so any white marks on it in my photographs are not on the compact - but are simply light reflections.
The base is a very shiny gold tone - with no condition issues - the finish is as lovely as when it was first made. It has pretty little stars all over it, as photographed. The word Stratton is in a little lozenge in the center.
The patent number is printed below the mirror,
It dates to the 1960s.
The diameter is 8.5 cm (just over 3 1/4 inches).
My asking price reflects its age and its exceptional condition - it is "as new" and is now nearly 60 years old.
UK postage will be £4.95 and applied at check-out. I have a number of vintage powder compacts in my online shop. Multiple purchases will be capped at £4.95 in postage to you.
