This is a strange vintage Scandinavian glass hanging lamp shade.
It was designed by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors.
It dates to around the 1960s.
The shade has two layers in its construction, which is typical of 60s shades by Fagerlund.
There is an outer onion-shaped shade - made of a clear muted golden amber coloured glass.
It has a gold-toned metal cap on the top as photographed, The hanging hook is connected to the metal cap on top of the shade. It is nice and sturdy.
There is a little patination to the lacquer on the metal cap commensurate with age. But it generally nice and shiny with no issues.
The electric cable comes through the centre of the cone-shaped cap. To hang you would attach the chain to the hook (chain provided) and then you would weave the flex in and out of the chain links. The chain would then attach to the metal ceiling hook and the cable thread through the aperture.
The shade then has a second separate internal diffuser shade section - made of textured clear glass vase - and it was this textured glass that Fagerlund was best known for on his glass shades.
Dimensions: the diameter is 11 inches. The height is 11 inches. The drop electric flex or cable is about 1 metre in length (of course could be easily shortened). The electric flix could be woven through the hanging chain - provided with the lamp - so does ceiling hanging fitment. The internal ribbed clear glass shade is 4 1/4 inches in diameter and with a height of 7 inches.
No damages. With any vintage item which is electrical - best to have this PAT checked by an electrician before installing.
