This is a PAIR of attractive Scottish pottery ceramic quaichs and matching underplates = they date to around 1925.
I also have a single quaich and underplate listed on my store.
I have given a little discount on these as a pair and listed these at £70 each. The single one is listed at £75.
The decoration is hand-painted by Elizabeth Amour (her monogram and creation details are all on the base).
The decoration is painted onto blanks. It was common in the early 20th century for small Scottish potteries to have white ceramics supplied and decorators would paint the decoration on the blanks.
These fine ceramic quaich are rare and are a much sought-after Art Deco pattern. They have a black central reserve inside - with a decorative band at the top with black, blue, and green patterns. These repeat on the lug handles. The exterior has a plain black band at the rim.
They come with their original underplate, as photographed.
Really attractive pieces of Scottish pottery and more unusual ones to be decorated by Elizabeth Amour.
The dishes are in good condition for being nearly 100 years old - they have no chips or cracks. They are certainly highly attractive pieces of antique Scottish Art Pottery.
Dimensions: 4 inches in diameter with a height of 1 3/4 inches. From handle to handle it is 6 inches.
