These are more pretty pieces of Victorian Scottish pottery - made by Robert Heron & Sons / Methven Pottery, Kirkcaldy.
On offer here is a pretty pair of non-matching open serving bowls. They have has tall sides and would be perfect for serving nuts or wee nibbles with evening drinks.
Thye both have floral patterns - the bowls are slightly different in size - and the floral pattern on each is also slightly different. But as a wee pair they are certainly very attractive.
There is a little craquelure to the inside of the bowls - so they would be best for dry foods - or as decorative items. The body of the pottery has also slightly discoloured - and this often happens with Methven pottery of this time - but it doesn't look dirty - but the colour has changed from a white shade or more of a light beige one.
There are no disfiguring chips or cracks - so generally fine antique condition - they are probably about 140 years old now. They are priced accordingly to take all this into consideration. Pricing the larger one at £25 and the smaller one at £20 - a fair price for Scottish antique spongeware pieces.
Dimensions: The larger bowl has an overall height of 3 inches. The diameter at the widest point is 4 1/2 inches. The foot diameter is 2 3/4 inches.
The smaller bowl has an overall height of 2 1/2 inches. The diameter at the widest point is 4 1/4 inches. The foot diameter is 2 inches. The smaller bowl is the one with the big pink daisy-type flowers on it.
