This is a large tankard mug which was made by Buchan Pottery, who were based at Portobello, near Edinburgh (now closed).
It dates on stylistic grounds to the late 1950s. It is a more unusual pattern and one that you do not see so often on Buchan pieces.
This rare pattern and larger size is probably of interest to collectors of Buchan pieces. Its rarity is reflected in my asking price for this wonderful tankard. It is in excellent condition with no damage.
The mug or tankard is a large one - It is 5 inches in height. The base is 4 1/4 inches in diameter and the rim is just over 3 1/4 inches in diameter.
