This is a cute little hand-painted piece of early 20th century Scottish Bough pottery.
It takes the form of a little miniature jug which is yellow in colour and has white flowers and a black edge towards the base.
It fully marked to the base, as photographed.
The maker's initials are RA - for Richard Amour.
This little jug is probably a little blank of this earthenware vase which was made by Maling and Sons, Newcastle-on-Tyne and used by Bough Pottery.
CONDITION: In good condition for an antique Bough jug with no chips or cracks. The clear glaze on the pot has a subtle and very slight all-over craquelure - this seems quite common with lots of Bough pieces - and has occurred in the making as part of the second glaze firing.
Height is 4 ½ inches. Handle to Spout is 6 inches. The diameter of the foot is just over 3 inches.
Bough Pottery was founded by Elizabeth and Richard Amour in the 1920s. They specialized in decorating blanks - which they bought in from pottery companies in England and Scotland (many from Maling Pottery, Newcastle).
This lovely display piece is in good condition with no chips or cracks.
